Despite what "Jesus" and his "disciples" try to tell you, Kizunas is a lot more than fair. We're a big group of friends who help each other out, not just a shell for events. Earlier today, we went to fight Ovni as a small group of 7, not counting dualboxers. The fight took 105 minutes and yielded full drops and an Abyssite. I was one of four people who needed the drop and was present. I ended up with the first Bullwhip Belt from Kizunas, and quite possibly the first drop on the server. Thank you, everyone. ![]() On It's Feet!Odin You Are Not Your O's Kote by Ringthree15 days ago This is an illustration of when ingrained learning kicks in. :) I love Abyssea. It is really fun. There seem to be so many aspects to it. So many things we can't even really explain yet. Like, why did Turul and Ovni start aggroing all of a sudden? Are the "!!" really random? How do all the Abyssite drop? At some point though, all of this information just gets to be overwhelming. Why are there so many questions that remain unanswered? What are we supposed to do to try to figure all of this out? Why can't SE just give us some straight forward content. I am not saying that there is something wrong with Abyssea itself. As I have already said it is challenge and rewarding content. I am just concerned that instead of content we are getting randomness. One of the reasons that I liked Salvage so much was that it was a riddle but it was one that we could figure out. Sure there was the normal drop rate issue, but it felt like if you did it long enough it would all average out in the end. I look at Abyssea and I see a huge jumble of events. A little Limbus, a splash of Salvage, the old Sky/Sea combo, finished with a dash of Kings. It's very interesting and fun, but it seems all a bit scatter brained (not like I am one to criticize, my posts can end up rambling on forever). The tiers don't seem symmetrical. It seems more like a hodge-podge of previous end-game content mixed with something all new. It's not bad at all, it can just get confusing sometimes. Sometimes it's nice to have content with some obvious solution to it. There is some comfort to be found standing on a dragon's feet. It's a whole new world, but that doesn't mean that SE has to steal my security blankie. :) Tags: endgame, Ringthree, Abyssea, Visions of Abyssea ![]() Starcraft 2. Final Fantasy XIV.16 days ago I guess I'll have no shame and admit to having been gluttonously divulging in SC2 as of late. Actually during my 2 month sabbatical after crashing from the life-sapping monotony of magian trials (aka the future of XI), I played SC2 pretty much every day. If anyone out there also plays, hit me up online. I'm on there as joeflack4@gmail.com and my gamer tag is TagaJoe (play on words since my name's Joey and the city I live in happens to be called Tagajo). I play Terran and started off beta in the freaking copper league, the lowest one. But since then I've climbed to diamond, the highest league, with about a ~400 rating. But that also doesn't really mean a lot considering that to the many truly great players, there is little difference to them whether you're diamond or silver. This game is truly kickass and highly addicting. So much gratification and yet you can pick it up and drop it whenever you want, unlike an MMO. So much goes in to playing well. Micro(management), macro, memorizing build orders, scouting, response, overall strategy, actions per minute. Sometimes it's fun just to watch other players' replays or tournament games. I'm about off of work and about all I can think about is going home and blowing shit up until I pass out. If you play it let me know :), would be fun to play with some people from XI. On the other hand, XIV is coming out in exactly a month. I haven't yet got a copy, but I think I'll get the lol collectors edition. I'm thinking I'll get the game in Japanese this time; that'll probably help beat the language into me a bit more, prolly a good thing. If you're like me and you're studying Japanese and plan on playing XIV, I'd check out Eorzea Station. This is a JP game podcast, and it's not half bad. Even though I only understand about 1/3 of what they're saying, they make a lot of jokes and whacky stuff like skits and karaoke song mixes on air. Right now my friends and I are looking for a server to make our home. For now we're thinking the Besaid server. I just got a beta invite from BG. The game is coming out next month so I'm not really overwhelmed, but if you play beta you can meet me on there. I'm thinking of just calling my char Shamaya Asura, but that kinda sounds dumb to me as well and I think a lot of people are using server last names. I can't really think of a last name to use; like many others, I'm sure, I don't quite want one. I was kinda thinking I'd like to be a taru this time around, they looked like freaky little things the first time I saw them but I guess I got used to how they look. They're lil pimps. But I suppose I should be realistic. I'm going to want to just carry myself into the new game and continue my internet double identity. So I'll probably be the white haired mithra again. As for job class, discipline, or w/e. There's really nothing like thief in the game, which to me is a big disappointment. SE goes about saying there are no 'jobs' in the game, but it's all the same to me. The gladiator to me is pretty much a pld. The berserker dude a warrior. We have a ranger and a dragoon. A monk. Whm and Blm are mixed into one, which is really weird. And I don't know what to make of conjuror. I guess I could say it's most like a Rdm to me, but obviously it is something else. More like a genuine warlock that I think many Rdms have always wanted their job to be. But for me, I long for a thief. Take the basic 6 jobs of FFXI that you can use at the start of the game, and the only one really missing completely from XIV is thief. Fantasy stories, fantasy games, something is really missing if you don't include a rogue character or class. It's just one of those things I guess, that are supposedly implicit by the theme. The classes that are most thief like in the game right now are lancer and pugilist. Lancer gets hate control and pugilist gets sneak attack. Hate control in XI was cool and I was thinking of doing lancer for this reason, but really hate control is not something implicit by the 'idea of thief' in general, beyond XI. Hell, I wouldn't be disappointed if they allowed me to use trick attack as another sneak attack at will. If they got rid of the hate control aspect of thief I'd still love it. /psych = crunk or constipated; I'm not sure which So I guess right now I'm thinking pugilist, perhaps until they release other jobs. Whatever gives me the feeling of playing my thief the most out of any of the classes, that's what I'd like to play in XIV. Again, for now I'll probably be playing on the Besaid server. I'd love to get as many people I know in XI as possible to come along and enjoy the next online journey together. 23rd Aug 2010![]() 16 days ago So, the description of my blog is basically “The adventures and studies of Kyoshin in Vana’diel.” I haven’t really done much research lately, but Trial of the Magians has given me quite a chance to do so. Whenever that happens, I take a look at whatever screenshots I may have taken since my last LJ post to job my memory. There wasn't much there this time, but I did remember that I'd been using some time in Abyssea recently to try and get some of the useful Abyssites. A couple weeks ago, Evangel wanted to kill Limules & Clionids in Abyssea-Tahrongi for the key item they drop that provides an extra stone. We were operating on the assumption that the person who aggroed would get the Abyssite key item, should it drop. We killed the first one, that I aggroed ... then Evangel aggroed one and this happened: I guess I got it because of the killshot or perhaps it's just random, who knows. I thought that maybe it was some other abyssite that dropped, but it was the one we were hunting for. It was sort of funny, but oh well. We still need to go back and get Evangel one. The mobs are pretty easy to find with Wide Scan. Later on last week, I went with Wodie, Evangel, and Rizelmine to kill Tonberry for the Abyssite key item that decreases the regeneration time of your Traverser Stones at the NPC. Me and Wodie both needed ... he got his pretty quickly, and I got mine right at the end. People are just now discovering that another Abyssite that extends the time of each stone by 3 minutes dropped from Ovni, the Abyssea UFO mob. If I can snag that one, I'll have all(?) of the time benefiting key items. 108 minutes for 3 stones would be hot. Abyssea NMs: We took our first foray into Abyssea as a LS hunting NMs last week. At the suggestion of Wolfshadow, we were planning to try and get all the key items needed to pop Kukulkan. Amazingly, we were successful! A couple of the NMs were sort of bitchy, but for our first try we did pretty well. I think we're going to be trying to pop Kukulkan and get Lunar Abyssite for members of the LS this week. After that, I'm not sure what exactly we'll do, but there's so many different options we can try, we'll need to come up with something new. Magian Trials: I'm mainly focused on completing my +6 DEX, +12 acc Kila at the moment... and I'm finally on the last trial needed to finish it. I've got 210 more Golems left to kill on Lightningday and I'll be done! I got my first group on Golems last night and it was 4 of us and we killed 40 in an hour. If I have to solo, I'm sure I'm only going to be able to kill 15-20 an hour tops, so I'm looking at quite the long road to finish unless I happen upon people that I can team up with. My other active Magian Trial is for adding another +1 DMG to my Magnatus. I'd not made any progress on it in awhile, but I got the LS to come kill some Rams hoping to upgrade my Abyssite last week. We killed 3 before the Abyssite finally converted, so I'm 3/8 toward finishing. I'm still hoping for some low man kills, but considering the Ram was pretty easy with an alliance, I may be able to get some more kills that way since a few folks in LS want to try Dawon again. Dawon, btw, is like Byakko on steroids. We popped it once last week and it pwned the crap out of our unprepared asses. I'm trying to determine what are the next trials I need to undertake. I have DRK, NIN, RNG, and WAR still that don't have any Magian weapons. For DRK, I've got a Plaga Scythe, which isn't nearly as good as the best Magian weapon... although I rarely play DRK. For NIN, I've still got Senju/Perdu. For RNG, I've got a Siege Bow ... I doubt I need a Magian upgrade for that job. And for WAR, I'm still rockin' the Perdu Scythe with hopes for a Vermeil Bhuj someday. I may just continue working on weapons for my THF and COR. There are other daggers I could get, a STR one and one with an added effect to lower the opponents defense. Both would be nice to pair with the Kila I'm working on, but I hope to get an Auric Dagger and not need another Dagger. For COR, I could use the MAB Gun ... but I'm worried about what enhancements to the Magian process are forthcoming. Other Stuff: The LS is chugging along and we've done our normal rotation of events lately. I'm personally looking forward to getting back out to Sea soon so we can start hoarding some popsets for possible AV attempts. ZNM interest has been really low lately, but we killed 5 Tinnins last week. No amazing drops of note... we still have two Sarameya popsets raring to go. We TP burned two Kirins a little over a week ago, they died very quickly with minimal use of 2 hours. It was pretty cool... sadly, all we got from them were 3x D.Body and an Osode. I think Sky is pretty much done as an event, but we may go up every once in awhile to kill pops that people may have collect or to do a quick farming run to keep getting chances at Kirin. No matter what happens, seems people always need/want W.Legs. Einherjar & Dynamis are chugging along. It's nice that they are much easier now, it offsets the lower numbers we've been getting for a lot of events lately. Sometimes the turnout is scary low, but then we end up winning or whatever anyway and it turns out to be no problem. I can only imagine how much things will be on 'easy mode' after the next update. Tags: Abyssea, magians ![]() Neenja!16 days ago I've been working on two Katanas to get my Ninja a little more up to date. Senjuinrikio/Unji is a bit 2005. I went with the Store TP+8 one because...it's easy. Just do a bunch of WS. OK base DMG on it and I'll get stuck at 99% TP less often. The other one I'm doing is the DEX/Accuracy+ one. I've got two more on Lightningsday/Thunder weather trials with ~450 mobs to kill. When it's done between it and more Katana skill from level 80 I'll have like a free +30% hit-rate on anything I'm not capped on. Technically, I could upgrade two of them, but that's probably overkill. I might be a bit long winded if I get into it, so bear with me on this if you're actually interested. I'm not completely sure what state my char was in around the time of my last post, all I know is that I was obsessed with salvage pieces reading back on it lol. Pretty soon after that though, I had just started my job at Sony Online Entertainment and barely had time to play FFXI anymore with my weird schedule. I had to quit Pxtzle pretty much as a main member of the linkshell, and all I really spent my time doing was salvage with the night crew among a few really late night events we did together (mostly ZNM or the past beastmen stronghold BCNMs iirc). Eventually, I got tired of it, and my schedule was so bad I couldn't even do salvage with them anymore. I tried switching servers to Quetzalcoatl to give a late night linkshell a try, but it never took off and I eventually gave up on Falisa for those three months my server transfer was down. Went back to my second char Kaylea on Unicorn to help out Pxtzle on whatever event I could actually make on the time I was free. (Oh yeah, I got a brand fancy new computer during that time. Hurray no shit graphics anymore) I eventually transferred Falisa back to Unicorn. You know that saying you don't realize what you have until its gone.. yeah thats how I felt about the people I hung out with in Pxtzle when I went to Quetz. Within that week of moving Falisa back though, Pxtzle broke apart sadly. The linkshell leader lost interest in the game, and the people who took over didn't really feel like leading in place of someone else. We split off into two shells, and I went with my group of friends into a shell lead by Saishyuro called Night Moogles. I had a lot of fun when I could make events, and I eventually got a decent normal schedule at work and could finally attend everything. But I think the split from Pxtzle made everyone bummed or something, and eventually all the original people that came with us slowly started quitting the game. In the end, Saishyuro quit FFXI and I along with him and nightmoogles fell apart. I never felt like I was done with the game, and I never disliked FFXI (I still don't to this day). But having to start all over in a brand new linkshell just wasn't my cup of tea. I'd have to start from the bottom again, with people I barely know, especially when I had the aspirations on working towards a relic at the time. Just didn't have it in me. I had just gotten RNG to 75, and I was absolutely in love with the job. I was putting my all into it, and at the time of quitting, I think I had nearly every thing you could buy from the AH for Ranger done and was just working towards the few r/ex pieces I needed. I still miss those times. :( But anyways, after the fact, Sai and I decided to wait for the launch of Aion and played random ftp MMOs here and there over the next month after quitting. We eventually decided to try out World of Warcraft for a bit, I got to like..65 on my hunter and Sai blasted past me to get 80 on his priest in like a week and a half. <_< I just wasn't into the game really all that much at the time, and moved onto another mmo by the name of Continent of the Ninth for like two weeks before Aion launched. (C9 is an extremely awesome game, probably the best online MMO i've ever played.. too bad they made it KOREAN ONRY and I can't play it at all anymore Q_Q) Aion launch happened, I played for only a month before getting tired of the game and went back to WoW with Sai. I got hooked on it for like 6 months until I had to quit back in May this year. We moved on to Heroes of Newerth to just pass the time until FFXIV launch and right now, we're up in the air on what to do. Tired of HoN, and waiting for this next month to pass for something to do lol Anyways, theres my long story about whats gone on with my vidya game life over the past two years. I left out a lot of details but whatever. Its tl;dr as it is lol I'm considering switching to a different blogging website because livejournal is ugly but I'll have to see if I want to take the time to set up another one. Err, 78, rather. Friday, I was able to get in a great Abyssea party at it's prime on level 72 Samurai thanks to my linkshell mates, which got me from 72 to 74. The next day I joined a pick up group, it was nice but it only lasted long enough to get my Samurai to 75. I warped to Whitegate and saw an Abyssea shout, me and another Kizunas member decided to join. It was far from moot. I started out with no merits and ended up with ten and got 9999 limit points into the next. I also got my SAM from being merely 8k into level 75 to a level 78. I whispered to myself as I admired my reflection. The emerald and diamond headband looked amazing crowning my fiery red hair. Every delicate detail in the metal work was absolutely stunning. "Planning on keeping that?" I had heard Gurok come into my house, but I had a hard time breaking the trance of beautiful shinny things. "It loves me back." I grinned. "I think those gems are corrupting your brain." He jested. He presented a plate of cookies and I picked one up for immediate gobbling. Chewing while I hugged him, I was on a trio of perfection high. I was wearing pretty shinnies, eating cookies and holding the man I adored all at once. I knew at that moment, life couldn't get any better than that and I didn't want to let him go. "I like you." He smiled. "I like you too. I'm curious about this pretty emerald thing you're wearing. Business or pleasure?" "I was commissioned to borrow it from someone who has been dead for one hundred and fifty years and doesn't seem to be able to show it the appreciation it deserves. I'm really torn though. I love it. I'm wondering how angry that crazy old trader will be if I wear it instead. He wants it for his young new fiancé, but it looks so much better on me. What kind of young bride wants to wear a dead woman's jewels? I bet I can talk him into something new and custom made right?" "I think you're too lovely for your own good without any help at all." I laughed and kissed him quickly. "That's not what I asked. I'll give it to him though. He does fund a lot of my business and he's much more pleasant to deal with than most. I guess it would be a shame to make him an enemy. I always could steal it back without him knowing if I just couldn't get it out of my mind." It was hard work trying to convince myself. I took the lovely from my head and admired it once more before putting it back in my bag for delivery. I knew I would play with it again before I gave it to him and I still wasn't completely sure I would be able to hand it over. I was so weak for beautiful jewelry, but I also loved money and he was going to pay me a lot of it for finding the headband. He scooped me up into his arms and I giggled in delight. "Want to hear what I've been thinking about?" He asked. "Yes!" I loudly declared with a smile, still high on my trio perfecta.
"Did you even hear what I said?" I'm not sure that I had. My head was spinning. Gurok looked a bit cross to put it mildly, but he kept still while I sat on his lap and waited as patiently as he could for me. He had been going on for awhile now and I'm not even sure I blinked yet. Blinking extra to make up for it, I stared at his big hand over mine. "So, you want to marry me?" I summed up. "Well yes, that's what I've been saying for the last thirty minutes to eternity." He said as his brushed fingers through my hair. "You act like you don't think it's a good idea, but it makes perfect sense. You and I are good together. Don't you feel the same way?" "You are the first thing I look for when I wake up and the one thing that keeps me awake longer at night for fear of missing you." I said almost mechanically as I studied every detail of his fingers. It was so honestly true. Gurok chuckled. "You have a very charming way with words. Does that mean you agree with me?" "That we should get married?" I repeated as if somehow we might have switched subjects without my noticing. I felt dizzier for some reason and my body felt so heavy. I had to lean against his warm chest. "Yes…" he drew out. "Do you need me to repeat my speech again? You know how I feel about repeating myself but I realize this is a big deal. I admit, I'm a little discouraged that you're not shouting it from the tree tops." I felt panicked and looked up at him with big pleading eyes, "Give me two days and ask me again? This is not the kind of decision I want to make without thinking it through." I was terrified that he would think that I didn't love him. This wasn't about that. "The idea had really never crossed your mind?" He asked with raised eyebrows. "Well, no. I just kissed you last week. I hadn't planned the rest of my life part yet. You're so right; I love you. I just want this to be one of the steps in life I thought through first. This needs to be a rare completely responsible moment." "We've know each other for a very long time and we've always been close. This is something that has grown for more than one week." He paused a moment. "Hm… well, Ok. I'll give you two days to feel responsible and I won't bring up marriage again until then. Then, if you'll meet me in Ru'Lude Gardens, I'll run the idea by you one more time for an official answer. That sound ok for you?" Relaxing a little with a smile, I kissed him. "Thank you. I'm sorry I'm full of crazy sometimes." "I'm used to it." He kissed me back even though I could tell he wasn't as happy as he should have been after bring up marriage and I was full of guilt. He held me quietly until he had to leave for some auction house obligation. I knew he was disappointed in me and it broke my heart. While he was much less showy about it, he liked having his way just as much as I did. Why was I panicking? This wouldn't be the first time I had married.
